In a restricted category like research peptides, the agency you hire can grow your business or get it banned from Google. Many shortcuts that look clever (cloaking, coded names, swapping accounts) end with suspended accounts the brand cannot recover. These questions will help you tell the difference before you sign.
1. Will the campaigns run in our own accounts?
Look for: yes. Your Google Ads, Merchant Center and analytics accounts should belong to your business, with you as an admin. If an agency runs ads from its own accounts, you lose the history when you leave, and you are exposed to anything else happening in those accounts.
2. How do you handle landing pages?
Look for: pages that show reviewers and customers exactly the same business, products and claims, whether they live on your main domain or another domain your business owns. Be wary of anything that shows Google one page and customers another. That is cloaking, and Google suspends accounts for it without warning.
3. What happens if our account is suspended?
Look for: “We find the cause, fix it and appeal from your account.” Walk away from anyone whose plan B is a fresh account. Google treats that as suspension evasion, and it can take every linked account down.
4. Which products would you keep out of Shopping?
Look for: a specific answer after looking at your catalogue, not “we can run everything”. A good agency will tell you which products are too risky for the feed and how they handle disapproved listings.
5. How do you choose keywords?
Look for: brand, category and research-supplier searches, with negative keywords for dosing, injection and treatment terms. Not restricted product names, and never misspellings or coded names.

Look for: a website and feed review (product pages, reviews, policies, disclaimers), conversion tracking setup and a policy check of every ad and page before it goes live.
7. How do you price, and is there a minimum term?
Look for: clear setup and monthly fees, what is included, and an honest view of whether your ad budget is enough. Most agencies ask for a short minimum term because the first weeks are mostly setup and learning.
8. How will we see results?
Look for: direct access to your accounts plus regular reports on spend, revenue, cost per purchase and return on ad spend, not just clicks and impressions.
9. Can you share examples from the category?
Look for: real examples of work in peptides or supplements, such as compliant landing pages and campaign structures. Many clients in this space prefer not to be named, so an agency may share anonymised results or walk you through work on a call instead.
Red flags
- Guaranteed approvals or guaranteed results.
- Ads run from the agency’s own accounts.
- “Backup accounts” ready in case of suspension.
- Cloaking, redirects, coded product names or deliberate misspellings.
- No interest in your website, feed or tracking before launch.
- Your accounts, your data. Campaigns run in your own Google Ads and Merchant Center accounts. You keep admin access and full history, even if you stop working with us.
- No tricks. No cloaking, coded product names or deliberate misspellings to get past review.
- Same page for everyone. Reviewers and customers see the same business, products and claims.
- We fix and appeal. If something is disapproved or suspended, we fix the cause and request a review. We never move you to a new account to get around a suspension.
